Carmac Diesel

Who we are

Carmac Diesel is a family-owned and operated truck & trailer parts and service facility. We are located in Campbell River, BC and have been providing exceptional service since 1975.

The key to success in a service-based industry is the relationships formed between people and business. The relationships formed with customers, employees and vendors are equally important. These relationships will make or break a business in the service-based industry. Carmac Diesel is extremely proud of the relationships formed in all of these areas, and will continue to grow year after year because of them.

Without the care and attention to detail provided by our employees, without the friendships and loyalty provided by our customers, and without the hard work and trusting relationships formed with our vendors, we wouldn’t be the success we are today.

The absolute best shop I could have hoped to find. I live in northern Alberta and I had a converted school bus in storage on the island. I was looking to get an inspection on it as I knew it needed a lot of work done, but I wasn't sure what. When I called them and explained that not only do I not live in the province, but that I didn't even know if the bus was drivable- they weren't even phased. A friend dropped off the keys and they went to inspect it to see first if they could move it at no cost (sweet angels) but it was in too rough of shape, leading them to tow it. They did a thorough inspection on it for me and delivered me some bad news. Now, I'd made it very clear how emotionally attached I was to this bus, and if they were scummy, they could have just told me a price and I'd have paid it. Instead, the staff contacted me and very gently explained that the costs to make it mechanically sound (the list of work required on the invoice was two pages long) were not worth the price of the bus and they thought it was in my best interest to scrap it. They could have made upwards of 10-15k off me easily, but instead they looked out for my best interest (not my typical experience with mechanics). Being the emotional creature that I am, I wasn't ready to let go of it and they allowed me to store it on their property where it would be safe until I made up my mind. They never made me feel silly all the times over the months that I went back and forth on my decision or even the time I started crying when talking about it (ha). They never rushed me and allowed that huge rust bucket to sit on their property for months, while giving me the lowest storage rate I could even imagine. My financial outlook changed when I began school this fall, and I finally came to terms with getting rid of it. When I told them, not only were they extremely compassionate, but they actually handled it for me? They made some calls on my behalf and found someone willing to take it for parts, at no cost to myself. The level of customer service they display is unparalleled, in any industry, that I have encountered. I apologize for the length of my review, I just want everyone to know what unfailingly good human beings that Carmac Diesel has working for them, and that you probably want to make them your first choice for any mechanical needs.

Carmac has worked on my school bus camper a few times. It can be tricky to find a shop willing to work on a bus, especially an old one. They've always been friendl, prompt and honest. Prices are on point for a good diesel mechanic. You get what you pay for.
